ATOP Codebook: The ATOP codebook contains an explanation of data collection procedures, definitions of terms, and coding rules for all variables.
Codesheets: This folder contains all of the individual codesheets for alliances present in Version 4.01 of the dataset. Each codesheet provides a treaty citation as well as more detailed information about the treaty (often including references to specific articles) and explanations of coding decisions.
Alliance Candidate List: Current list of outstanding agreements that may potentially qualify to be included in a later version of the ATOP dataset. Inclusion in this document means that we have not been able to find enough information about the obligations to be able to determine whether the agreement qualifies as an alliance.
ATOP Bibliography: This provides a general list of sources referenced in version 3.0 of the dataset. More complete information for each alliance may be found on each individual codesheet (available above).
